Katie Kate

So I got on here and realized it has been a very long time since my last post!  We have had huge things happening in our family, but I decided to take one person at a time and update on the past months then hopefully continue from here.  Since Kate just had her 1st birthday, she gets to go first!

We got the not so great news that Kate had torticollis that needed physical therapy and was causing her head to be crooked.  We had already gone through the whole helmet thing with Audrey, but luckily with Kate we caught it months earlier!  She wore it for less time and didn't have to wear it during the hottest part of the summer.  It bothered her for all of ten minutes when she first got it, then it just became part of her.

We tried to hide the helmet, but it didn't really work.  Kate was actually a little bigger than Audrey was at the same age, so Kate was able to wear all of Audrey's old clothes during the same months that Audrey did.

She is seriously the happiest baby.  She also loves to have her picture taken!

She adores her siblings and loves whenever they include her!

This is one of the very first pictures of the new house!  I promise we didn't leave her in the bumbo on the counter unsupervised!  We aren't stupid!

She LOVES LOVES LOVES her daddy!  He is her very most favorite person in the whole world!

I found these darling lace rompers on the internet for way cheap so I ordered a few to match.  Turns out they run way small, so Audrey only wore them a couple times.

This is how she is almost every time I go in to get her in the morning!  What a pleasant person to have in our family!

My third child to get their Daddy's eyes!  The red hair is also coming in nicely!

Two sisters, two friends, hopefully this will last!

She would eat all day every day if I let her!  She likes it so much!

We got new beds for the older kids and Kate wanted in on the action!  They really are such good buddies!  Some times the play gets a little rough and I know it has to be pretty bad if she is crying because she puts up with a great deal!

We would live outdoors if it wasn't so cold, unpredictable, dangerous, dirty etc!  On second thought, I just love to visit it often!  This is one of Kate's favorite places to be!

So Jack is obsessed with stickers.  Our whole house is covered in them.  He loves to put them on people and up until this particular day we thought that he hadn't really descovered it was fun to put them on Kate.

Kate had slept longer than the older kids and when she woke up she didn't want to get out of her crib yet, so the older two kids got in with her.  I was cleaning up the kitchen and Audrey came out to help.  Jack and Kate were happily giggling in her room so I thought I would do some dishes then get everyone dressed.  When I went in I discovered this beautiful baby canvas for stickers!

She HATES not to be included!  The older two ride their bikes and had escaped to take a quick ride around the circle.  I went out to watch and looked back and saw a sad little face wanting to join.

This was at Kate's breakfast the morning she turned one!  I can't believe how fast it has gone!

I didn't have time to make a cake so we go red velvet cake from Costco.  Jack helped her blow out the candle.

We don't let her just eat cake so she was in heaven when I gave her a slice, a small slice, to enjoy all to herself.  She sucked the frosting off then ate the cake, a true Tani woman!

Enjoying the festivities with Grandpa and Jacob.  Everyone loves sitting with Grandpa and after he had open surgery a little while ago, they feel the need to make up for lost time when he couldn't hold them!

It is hard to explain that these new fun toys are for Kate.  She had helpers unwrapping her presents and trying to play with them before she could get her hands on them.  Her Gigi and Papa also gave her an absolutely darling outfit that I somehow missed a picture of.

I never know what my kids are going to love when it comes to toys.  Some things I think they will like they never play with and others are a hit.  This one is a definite hit!  She loves music and hits the buttons over and over again!

After the party she tried to figure out the party blowers!

I love my little Kate.  Here are just a few fun things about Kate:
  • She answers to Kate, Katie, or Katharine depending on who is talking to her.  We were always going to just call her Kate, but her cute big brother started calling her Katie and it is sticking
  • Kate had 18 words that she uses!  I think I have another talker on my hands
  • Kate is a great cruiser and can take a few steps if she really wants to get somewhere
  • Kate only ate baby food for about a month and a half and decided it wasn't for her and went straight to big people food!
  • Kate lives for music.  She bounces up and down wherever she is and claps her hands.  She reaches up and plays the piano already and gets upset when a song is turned off
  • She is such a daddy's girl!  She almost threw up when he had to leave her tonight and go on a call
  • Her red head firey personality is starting to come through a little bit especially when someone (namely Audrey and/or Jack) takes something she wants
  • She is an amazing sleeper.  She often sleeps in until after 10 and then still takes her afternoon nap.  She can also sleep through anything which is important with two older siblings
  • Everything goes in her mouth
  • She is a dumper!  Any drawer or cupboard that she can open is quickly unloaded
  • She loves dollies and blankies!
We love her so much and we are so glad she is a part of our family!

Those pictures of her covered in stickers are hilarious!
