Trip to the Zoo

We (Johnny, Me, Jack, Audrey, my mom, my dad, my sister, and my nephew Nathan) went to the zoo for the first time this year. I knew that Jack wouldn't be all that impressed by the animals because he wasn't all that impressed at Wheeler Farm and those animals aren't even close to exotic! After the whole trip, Johnny said we should just save our money and take him for a walk on the parkway. Oh well, it was still fun and Jack got some exercise!

He loved the stroller! Everywhere we go, he holds onto it for a while then runs away, then holds onto the stroller again!

Audrey didn't really know what was going on besides another ride in the stroller. She was a very good girl and slept almost the whole time.


My dad is SOOOO good with Jack and Jack loves being with him. Whenever Jack threw a fit my dad could get him calmed down and back to where we wanted him to go. It was great!

Jack did enjoy seeing the monkeys!

We saw the new baby elephant! At least I didn't have to be pregnant for 21 months! While we were looking at the elephants, Jack was pointing out the trees around them.

This was over by the big cats. There were two way cute tiger cubs! Jack was interested in the "cks" which are rocks. He can't say his "r"s.

We did take a train ride which Jack enjoyed. He loves trains and enjoyed it pulling up and then getting on.

Do You Measure Up?

Jack LOVES books! He will look at them more than he plays with toys! This was a new book I brought home from work, "If You Give A Cat A Cupcake." He will find a page with writing on it and "read". He makes up sounds and words and it is so entertaining. Just lately he has started singing which is fun to hear too!

Audrey has really started smiling this week. It is so fun to see, although my camera is SOOOO slow we missed most of them.

Update on Nursery

Jack was a very good boy and didn't cry at all going to nursery today. Johnny took him up there and stayed for a couple minutes then snuck out. Jack did well, but he didn't make a peep for two hours which is hard for me to believe. The nursery leader said he just sat really quietly with his huge eyes just looking around at everything that was going on. He found Lydia at least and sat by her and that seemed to help him. We checked on him twice and he was a super star. Hopefully he will get more comfortable to where he feels like he can talk, but until then, at least he's not crying!

Off to Nursery

Well we are putting Jack in nursery tomorrow. It makes me a little nervous because there are a lot of big kids in there and Jack is so little. The last time I was in there, they just kind of sat there while all the kids played and I was afraid he was going to be trampled. There are almost twenty kids in our nursery and I don't want to say anything to the bishop about it because then I will probably be called to be the nursery leader for Jack's class and I can't do that with Audrey. So we will see how it goes. He is 19 months today and getting bigger and tougher all the time, so he should be able to stand up for himself soon. I am just worried he will learn bad behavior, pushing, yelling, and biting from being around some of these older kids. Luckily he has his cute friend Lydia to be with. I am sure it is fine and I will not worry like this with my second child.

Swine Flu is a Bunch of Bull Honky!!!

I think that this stuff with swine flu has just gone way too far! It is so dumb! I think that it is some type of conspiracy, I just can't figure out why yet. Think about it. There are crazy huge lines to get a vaccination that was NEVER TESTED ON CHILDREN!!! The only very quick studies they did on the vaccination was on adults and it was very short. And yet, they are shooting this out so fast to people and I just want to know why. People are still getting it at an alarming rate and less than half of Americans over the age of 18 think it is even a good idea to get! More people die of MRSA (staff infection) than the swine flu. More people are getting STDs on a daily basis, why aren't we stressing more education about this? My father-in-law was treating a nurse at his chiropratic office and she said that at the hospital when people come in, they don't even test them to see if they have the swine flu, they just assume it is. What if it is just the flu? What if it is just a bad cold? We still need to use our head and not get sick and when we are sick with the swine flu or without, we still need to take care of ourselves. But I think it is a VERY VERY bad idea to get it in our children and adults for that matter. So anyway, that is my ranting and raving for the day.

Back to Work

So I went back to work today! As much fun as it doesn't seem like it might be, it wasn't that bad. When I went back to work with Jack, I cried the whole way to work. At least with this one, it wasn't as hard. Johnny is taking ADO courses which means he is going to be able to drive the firetruck, so he is working a ton of hours these next two weeks! My parents and Aunt Lisa are so very very generous with their time, and take such good care of my children! Jack loves all three of them so much! It has been so wonderful that they were willing to help us out! We love family!

Matt and Traci are moving to her sisters house at the end of this month! It will be good to have them closer to us! We will have to go and play with them and have them over here. Jack only says two people's names besides mommy and daddy, and that is "Ni-Ni" for Nathan and "Na-Nuh" for Hannah. It is fun to see him take such a liking to his cousins!

Oh my word, so Jack is getting his next set of molars!!! He is crazy! The internet says that he shouldn't be getting them until he is abour two and they are in. That gives him 20 teeth!!!! That is only 8 less than an adult! No wonder he has been a little crankier than normal. Oh and the "NO"s have started. No one will even be looking at him and he will just say "No,No,No!" It's not like we are constantly telling him this either. I think he is about 2! Luckily the fits aren't as bad as I have heard others go through.

I am so grateful for Johnny and everything that he does for our family! He is killing himself trying to get the most training and work hard so our family will be able to move into our own house with a big backyard with a couple of big dogs in the back. I love that we both want the same thing and that we are both willing to sacrifice for it. If anybody wants to donate to the Tanis get a house fund, you are more than welcome. We take cash or checks!

It's Been a While

Now I know it has been a long time since my last post! Thank you Jamie for encouraging me to post again!

Jack is starting to say "Hi!" whenever anyone enters the room! It really makes me feel so welcome and happy all the time! Well the other cool thing that happened was a couple of nights ago Jack woke up in the middle of the night and started saying "Oh, Hi!" I was in nursing the baby and happened to hear it! He repeated it multiple times and I thought someone must be in our house because he doesn't randomly do this (this actually freaked me out). He was quiet for a few minutes and then said "Ok, Bye-Bye." The next morning, he looked at the picure of Jesus in our room and said, "Oh, Hi!" and as we left he waved bye-bye. So either he is just being a random 18 month old or he really was talking to someone in his room!

So there are many parents that have 18 month olds and I know that they celebrated this milestone a while ago, BUT we are just experiencing stairs now. Jack is able to climb up a flight of stairs quicker than we can get there. It ha actually been fun to see him become more independent!

Audrey is getting big! She is totally in three month clothes and has been for a couple weeks! My first baby wasn't this chunky and it is fun to count the rolls on her thighs. It's a good thing she is tough though because she has to take a lot of strong love from her brother.

My mom and sister watched the baby while I took Jack to Wheeler Farm. He loved it and especially loved the tractors! He wanted to sit in the seat the whole time or pick at the wheels!

We got some corn feed for the birds and were feeding it to them. The geese surrounded us and I was shocked when one of the geese bit Jack. It think it thought Jack had food. Jack held his hand like it had been bit off and looked the goose in the eyes and yelled, "Ow!" He was fine but it was funny to see him tell the goose it hurt!

She hates all the hair bows and hats I put on her, but they are so cute!

My neighbor gave us a way cute out and about outfit that covers Audrey comletely. She is so cute in it!

Jack is obsessed with phones! He carries them around with him wherever he goes and he will carry it while playing with toys. He has also figured out how to unlock the buttons on my phone, he really is amazing!
