I think that this stuff with swine flu has just gone way too far! It is so dumb! I think that it is some type of conspiracy, I just can't figure out why yet. Think about it. There are crazy huge lines to get a vaccination that was NEVER TESTED ON CHILDREN!!! The only very quick studies they did on the vaccination was on adults and it was very short. And yet, they are shooting this out so fast to people and I just want to know why. People are still getting it at an alarming rate and less than half of Americans over the age of 18 think it is even a good idea to get! More people die of MRSA (staff infection) than the swine flu. More people are getting STDs on a daily basis, why aren't we stressing more education about this? My father-in-law was treating a nurse at his chiropratic office and she said that at the hospital when people come in, they don't even test them to see if they have the swine flu, they just assume it is. What if it is just the flu? What if it is just a bad cold? We still need to use our head and not get sick and when we are sick with the swine flu or without, we still need to take care of ourselves. But I think it is a VERY VERY bad idea to get it in our children and adults for that matter. So anyway, that is my ranting and raving for the day.

I would have said the same thing a few days ago.
But, Before I had wynter, I also would have said that reflux and colic were quite similar to swine flu... Just an umbrella diagonosis that doctors gave nervous mother to make them feel better about paying for an office visit.
However, after caring for a child that legitimately has both reflux and swine flu, I would give her about anything to help her to feel better!
Jaime, I totally agree that she has swine flu and is very sick, I just think that many doctors at hospitals not specialized like Primary's are giving a general diagnosis, more to adults than children. I do know that swine flu is a real sickness, not just made up. I am just not willing to risk what could happen by giving my children the shot. We had stomach flu, RSV with double ear infections, and Roseola that all hit Jack last year within two months and it is so killer to have a sick kiddo. And I also agree with the reflux and colic stuff, it is very real and makes for a very hard time for that little baby!
so what should people do with kids like Austin who have had continued breathing problems with or without an illness? I'm not trying to be controversial, still just trying to figure out what is best for us. (they don't have the shot available here yet)
I'm with you Emily. My brother, who is doctor, isn't getting vaccinated nor his kids because of that-it hasn't been tested. Seems a little too risky for me and my kids-don't want to make it worse!
