Well we made our annual trek up to Christmas Meadows on July 30, 31 and August 1. Jim and his family were all there and it was fun to see them. My parents didn't go because my dad had hurt his back tearing out cabinets in his kitchen. Because they didn't come, Lisa didn't go either. But Matt and Traci and their kids, Eric, and my family went. Then it was also so fun to have Angie and Shannon make it up.
When we got up there, Jack really enjoyed being outdoors. We left 90 degree weather and went up to where we had to wear jackets and pants. The low one night was 37!!! It was wonderful! Jack has had teeth coming in forever and they finally broke, but I think that combined with the fact that he couldn't recognize anything familiar made him very cranky! He is also going through a mommy only phase, he wouldn't even go to Johnny! He liked watching the fire though and was able to go to sleep well on Thursday night. HOWEVER . . . he woke up at about 2:30 screaming his head off! I couldn't get him to calm down in the tent so I had to get out with my 34 week pregnant self and walk him in the dark! I finally got him to sleep, laid him down, and he woke up screaming again! Johnny got up with him and took him to the car to let him scream it out there! They ate graham crackers and talked until Jack fell asleep!
The next day was better but Jack wasn't able to nap well and right after dinner he threw up everywhere, so we packed up and head home a night early. Although not one person said they would miss us! They were probably happy to see us go with the screaming child! We hadn't been in the car for three minutes when Jack fell asleep and slept for over an hour on the way home. He came home and slept through the night. All in all it wasn't a horrible trip but it was a tiny bit difficult with such a young little guy and being so pregnant!
Enjoying his bottle and walking around on the rocks!
Setting up Angie and Shannons tent. Jack was so helpful!
Enjoying some more bottle time!
The girls got the fire going! Angie and Shannon sawed and chopped the wood, while I used probably too many matches to start the fire!
Crossing the logs over to the river
Enjoying our time down by the river. Jack loved picking up rocks and throwing them back down again!
Some Mommy and Baby Jack time.
Everyone enjoying the river. As you can see, we weren't all in short sleeve clothes. It was still pretty chilly up there.
Me at 34 weeks pregnant!
Uncle Eric and Baby Hannah
Eric's tent was so small it barely fit him and his mattress in it! When ever he moved the whole thing would move! He also snored very loudly and I am surprised his tent didn't shake then too!
Jack did let Jason hold him for a little while.
We went for a little walk up the trail. I don't know if you could call it a hike because I didn't make it very far, but we all enjoyed it.
The men sawing and chopping wood. They would see how fast they could saw and then how many chops it took to split the wood.
