Audrey Mae Tani

So I will spare you all the dirty details, but this is how our September 8th, 2009 went. We woke up early at 6:30 (because that is when Jack woke up!). We decided that we needed to give him another enema because he was still having bad problems! Neither Johnny or I wanted to do it, but we did it anyway. I gave it to Jack and then Johnny played with him and read him books until we needed to change him. Ever since then, Jack has been a very happy boy with a regular digestive system!!!

We took him to Grandma and Grandpa Tani's house so they could watch him for the day while we were at the hospital. Jack still didn't seem to have any clue what was happening, but he was happy and we took some last family pictures with just the three of us.

I went into see my doctor at 8:45 and he was all dressed for a C-section that he had to run down to, but he came in fast and stripped my membranes. He told me that unfortunately, labor and delivery was pretty busy at the moment and that I would have to go home and wait for a call IF they could fit me in. The other depressing news was that the 9th and 10th were overbooked for inductions so there was no way I could get in then. Dr. Larkin also said that he would be going out of town this weekend so if I didn't have the baby that day, I would have to wait to go into labor and he might not be delivering my baby! I walked out to Johnny and he said I looked depressed. I told him what happened and so he took me to Redbox. We went and got some movies and treats to wait for the call. Dr. Larkin said if I hadn't heard by noon, I could call and see what was going on, so I intended to call at 12:01.
We wached Inkheart, which was wonderful bytheway! Then they still hadn't called so Johnny said he was taking me for a drive. As we were reversing, the charge nurse called and said they could squeeze me in at 1:00. I was so happy! We went to get lunch and then drove to the hospital to have our baby!
I started on the Pitocin at 1:15. I didn't really start feeling bad contractions til closer to 3:00. I got the epidural at 4:15 and I was at a 4+ so I was progressing well. Dr. Larkin said he would come back at 5:15 to break my water. The epidural was okay but it was only numbing my left side. We turned and repositioned and it still was not helping the right side of my body. They called the anesthesiologist and he said he was coming. At 5:15 Dr. Larkin came back in and I was at a 7. He broke my water and told me when I felt pressure to tell the nurse. As soon as he walked out the door I felt amazing pushing pressure and bad contractions. The anesthesiologist came in to give me more medicine and I told him I had to push. He told me to wait and he ran to get my doc. Dr. Larkin came in and said he would check me, not really believing that I had to push. Lo and behold I was at a 10 and the baby was almost crowning! There were no nurses in the room and the doc had to hurry and throw his extra gowns and stuff on. I pushed a few times and we had our wonderful baby girl at 5:46 pm.

Before she was born, my doctor asked how much I thought she would weigh. I told him 7 lbs 12 ozs. He told me there was no way she would weigh that much and he predicted 7 1/2 pounds. After he delivered her and held her up he said, "There is no way this baby is under 8 pounds!" She came in at a very healthy 8 pounds 5 ounces! She is also 21 1/2 inches long!!!

Jack came to visit us once we were in our room. He kept pointing at her and saying baby, but he was more interested in seeing mommy and telling me about his day.

She really is quite the butterball!!!

Thank you to all the visitors who stopped by! We didn't get that many pictures because Johnny was videotaping most of the people holding her!

My mom, Grandma Stayner, a very pround grandmother! My grandma, Grandma Stayner, was also able to come see us in the hospital!

One of her first smiles! My dad, Grandpa Stayner, is always so good with the grandkids!

Getting ready to go home. I have been so blessed to feel so good and do so well after this pregnancy! I have had no pain meds and so far have been able to handle a toddler and newborn well. Johnny has really stepped up and is such a good husband and father!

I'm glad Audrey was able to make it on the 8th and that you didn't have to wait. She is a cutie! I also have a gift for your little girl. Katie has a bit of a cough but seems that she will be over it soon. So let me know when you are ready to get together and I'll make my self available anytime.
