Ups and Downs - Be Prepared It's a Long One!

Well this past little while has really been full of some ups and downs! First I will actually do the downs so that I can end with the ups! After we got back from vacation on Saturday (an up that I will mention later), we went to my parents' house to show them the pictures of the trip. Jack was hungry so we gave him a snack. He was eating it fine, until he suddenly threw it all up! I was so discouraged because we have been doing so well with making sure he ate six good meals/snacks a day. He hadn't thrown up for two and a half weeks and he was healthy and gaining weight! I thought maybe that was it! NO CHANCE! He threw up all night long! Johnny slept downstairs and Jack slept in my bed and threw up about every hour until 5. I would nurse him inbetween because he was starving, but then he would just throw it up on me later. Johnny and I decided that he must have food poisoning because he ate some ravioli that had ridden with us from Zion's up to Salt Lake.
He seemed to turn the corner in the morning though and although I didn't take him to church (I left him at my parents), he did participate in my dad's fantastic easter egg hunt. Well I thought he was fine and I went to lunch with my friend on Monday. Tuesday I went to work and he was just lethargic and tired, but luckily he was with my parents. By Tuesday night, he hadn't eaten a good solid meal in two days and he was losing a bunch of weight. I took him to the pediatrician yesterday and he had a ragin viral infection. The doctor looked at Jack's blood test results and told me that if wasn't a blizzard he would have had me rush up to Primary's because Jack was dangerously dehydrated. He told me it was very serious and that I should take him home and try to get as much fluid into him as possible. He also said that if he took a nap, don't let him sleep longer than an hour and make sure I could still wake him up! AAAAHHH! We were able to hydrate him enough that he didn't need an IV thank goodness, but he is still quite sick! My parents watched him today because both of my babysitters have two small children! He will be better in a few days though and then we will work on more weight gain!

Update on me: I lost weight over the whole thing, so I have now gained a total of four pounds with this pregnancy and I am at 19 weeks. The doc said it's fine as long as the baby is still healthy! We do get to find out on the 28th what it is!!!!!

Now the ups! For my birthday and spring break, Johnny took me down to Zion National Park. We had a blast! We have never taken a vacation just our little family. Jack did well and we hiked around!

Johnny took me to Outback Steak House on my birthday and I had the yummiest steak and potatoes! Jack loved it too!

We had a picnic out on the grass where Jack enjoyed some french fries and we enjoyed the view!

We then packed Jack up and Johnny lugged it up to the lower Emerald Pool. Jack fell asleep as soon as we started and slept the whole time!

We then stuck Jack in a tree and took some fun pictures of him! We did it two different times, so he is wearing two different jackets!

There was a horse that bordered our parking lot, so we bought a bag of carrots and fed her everyday! Jack also decided to see what the carrots tasted like!

We drove up thru the tunnel! It was so cool! It is a mile long stretch of road thru the rock!

We dragged our bodies half way up Angel's Landing, but decided that with our current states, Johnny carrying a sleeping baby and me 4 months pregnant, we should turn around and go back. It was beautiful though!

We took Jack to his first easter egg hunt at the Bumbleberry Inn Annual Hunt! It was getting cold on Saturday so we were all wearing jackets and Jack wore his daddy's hat! He was part of the first group 0-2 years old. They got one helper and Jack thought it was great fun to pick up the eggs and throw them back down again! We stopped after 4 or 5 eggs because he was tired and it was cold!

Then on Sunday I went to my parents house for an easter egg hunt! My dad had planned it all out! He had put puzzle pieces in the eggs for the two grandsons to find. Jack had six big eggs and Nathan had 20 something to find in the backyard! Jack was too distracted by all the yelling and screaming coming from Nathan and Eric to always watch where he was going and get his eggs! It was so fun afterwards though! The easter bunny brough Jack ritz crackers and ravioli! He loves them! It was a fun night and Jack didn't act that sick!

Oh, I'm sorry that Jack has been sick! I really empathize with you. Austin had a virus last week and we were in to the dr. twice. He was on a diet of pedialyte and cheerios. He's been losing weight too (I wonder why?) and the drs are bugging us about it. I wish the throwing up wasn't such a regular occurance for you!

Looks like your trip was lots of fun! Those tree pics are the best!! I really really wish we could be hang out. Austin and Jack could have playdates...we could hang out and gab like the good old days...I miss you!
